The YSR Congress president, Jaganmohan Reddy averred that it would be morally improper to table a Bill rejected by the Assembly and said the AP Reorganisation Bill should not be tabled in the Parliament.
In a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker, Meira Kumar, he thanked her for extending an invitation to attend meeting of all political parties on Tuesday but expressed his inability to make it due to paucity of time. Reiterating his party’s stand on the issue, he said the Bill would be opposed tooth and nail in Parliament. “We have opposed the Bill and bifurcation of the State at many forums and will continue to do so, even in the Parliament as we feel the division is undemocratic. We always stand for the best parliamentary practices and extend our cooperation to you,” he added.
Meanwhile, YSRC MLA, Mekathoti Sucharita has petitioned the Legislative Assembly seeking a copy of the report sent to the Centre on the discussion that took place in the House on the AP Reorganisation Bill. It was sought under the Right to Information Act. She also wanted resolution copies, the number and names of legislators who spoke on it and of those who gave their views in writing.
She wanted party-wise the list of total number of legislators who favoured division and those who opposed it, besides others who remained neutral.
