The Guntur district administration has commenced a survey to identify the extent of revenue lands abutting the embankment of River Krishna. The State government which had zeroed in on the Vijayawada-Guntur region for establishing the capital has sought a detailed report on the extent of government lands available in 11 mandals in the district.
District Collector Kantilal Dande told The Hindu on Wednesday that 11 mandals were being surveyed for identifying revenue, forest and endowment lands and a report would be submitted to the State government. The mandals include -- Mangalagiri, Tadepalli, Amaravathi, Tadikonda, Atchampet, Krosur, Kollur, Kollipara, Tenali, Ponnur and Yadlapadu.
“Revenue and survey teams will identify various types of land including assigned, Wakf and forest lands and waste lands around Guntur, Tenali and Mangalagiri -- the three major towns in UDA limits.
Meanwhile, Krishna District Collector M. Raghunandan Rao denied that any such survey was underway. “We don’t have any information on any survey said to be taken up by government department(s) in Krishna district,” he told The Hindu .
