YSR Congress MLA of Dhone B. Rajendranath Reddy and former MLA Kothakota Prakash Reddy visited Kurnool District Congress Committee office on Friday and sought the support of Congress leaders for their party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s protest slated from May 16 to 18.
They urged PCC vice-president N. Thulasi Reddy, Kisan Cell State president Raviprakash Reddy, former ZP chairman A. Venkataswamy and DCC secretary Pedda Reddy to extend their support for the protest against illegal projects being constructed by Telangana Government, which would magnify the water woes of parched Rayalaseema region.
Rayalaseema Joint Action Committee leaders confronted Mr. N. Thulasi Reddy in the Kurnool DCC office resulting in a verbal duel on Friday.
Demanding that the Congress agitate for separate Statehood to Rayalaseema, JAC leaders M. Balasundaram, N. Srinivasulu, Bhaskar Reddy, P. Saibaba, Chitti Babu and Krishna Reddy disputed the Congress demand for special category status and said that the benefits would be cornered by coastal Andhra.
They questioned the Congress leaders for agitating against Palamuru Ranga Reddy and Dindi lift irrigation projects, but not pressing for construction of Gundrevula project in Kurnool district, which too was accorded administrative sanction by former Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Dr. Thulasi Reddy, who came to Kurnool, to lead a delegation to assess drought in the district, objected to certain remarks by the JAC leaders and a verbal duel ensued. The JAC leaders also confronted YSRC MLA of Dhone B. Rajendranath Reddy stating that YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s protest in Kurnool was purposeless.
They alleged that YSRC MLAs failed to press the demand for making Kurnool as the State capital. Former MLA K. Prakash Reddy and YSRC leader Narasimhulu were present.
After the verbal duel, the JAC leaders protested before the DCC office and raised slogans against the Congress.
