Even as the police made a breakthrough in the PGMET-2014 case, some of the students who are being questioned by officials of the CID in connection with the scam are distressed at the way they were being subjected to continuous grilling.
A girl student, who is among the top 100 rankers, said she was called over to the office of CID in Visakhapatnam for the second day in succession on Saturday and kept waiting for hours on end. “I have studied hard with my friends for close to 15 hours a day preparing for PGMET. Because of some ingenious students who took to short-cut routes to achieve success, why should genuine students like me be targeted? Why should we be forced to take the exam again or hauled up for no fault of us,” she sought to know. What was more disturbing for her is the fact that she was being summoned for questioning by the police. “I feel ashamed for being asked to come for questioning when I have nothing to do with the case. Is it a crime to get a top rank in the exam? I am appalled at the way we are being treated like criminals,” she told this correspondent over phone.
