Students told to uphold Indian values

April 26, 2014 12:44 am | Updated May 21, 2016 01:22 pm IST - TIRUPATI:

Students and citizens of the country should regularly assess and evaluate themselves in order to reach the pinnacle of success, both in life as well as their respective careers, opined former Supreme Court Judge and erstwhile Law Commission Chairman P. Venkatarami Reddy.

Interacting with students at Tarang-2K14, the college day celebrations of Sri Rama Group of Engineering and MBA Colleges here recently, Mr. Reddy compared and contrasted the situation of the country from the 10th to 20th centuries, in terms of developmental indicators.

“In the present era of globalisation, India has made a mark by excelling in various fields. Rapid strides in development, especially in the fields of science and technology and economic reforms, have resulted in a paradigm shift, changing the face of the nation,” he said.

In this context, Mr. Reddy urged the students to uphold Indian values and traditions, irrespective of the changes the country was witnessing due to globalisation.

Vice-Chancellor of Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) S. Ratna Kumari advised the students to work hard and shy away from any negative thoughts and attitude.

She urged the students to inculcate positive attitude and realise that failures were the stepping stones to success. “Work towards achieving your goals by engaging in constructive activities,” she added.

Educational institutions’ chairman M. Rami Reddy, directors — M. Ramasubba Reddy and Arvind Kumar Reddy — Indian Bank Assistant General Manager Suryanarayana, principals — Jayachandra and N.C. Eswar Reddy — faculty, and students took part.
