Fifteen short films produced by students received for screening
The “Reel Race 2K14” held as part of a short film festival at Sri Vishnu College of Engineering for Women here has provided a platform for a good number of technical students to showcase their talent.
According to V. Dhanasupriya, cultural coordinator of Sri Vishnu Educational Society, which conducted the event, 15 short films, produced by students from seven colleges of the Sri Vishnu Group of Educational Institutes at Bhimavaram, were received for screening. Subhash Chandra, a short film producer, and Kunal Kaushik, film artiste, acted as jury. The awards were announced under five categories after the jury vetted 10 films shortlisted for scrutiny.
The Best Film Award went to “Farmer” which revolves around the lives of farmers. Its director V. Lokesh of Vishnu Institute of Technology (VIT), received the award. K. Anjali Raja, a student of Sri Vishnu Engineering College for Women, received the Best Director Award for her film ‘Inferno’, a horror movie. Kishore of the VIT was adjudged Best Actor for his role in ‘Conclude’. The Best Script Award went to B. Yamini of Sri Vishnu Engineering College for Women, for the film ‘Mother’ which was woven around female literacy. The jury award was given to D. Satya of the VIT for a documentary which deals with corruption.
