Prof. D. Raj Reddy, founder director of Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University (USA), advised the students at Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) - Sri City to strive for acquiring applied knowledge in order to equip themselves with a blend of both academics and practical approaches.
Interacting with the students here on Wednesday, Prof. Reddy complimented them for choosing the campus at Sri City and urged the management to make use of the location in seeking internships from the neighbouring industries throughout the year.
Earlier, Sri City's managing director Ravindra Sannareddy welcomed Prof. Reddy and briefed him about the infrastructure showcasing some of the important regions at the facility.
He said that it was Prof. Reddy who kindled the idea of establishing an IIIT at Sri City on a PPP Mode. “Prof. Reddy, who hails from the same region, was also instrumental in creating Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies, which caters to the educational needs of low-income, gifted rural youth,” he added.
Prof. D. Raj Reddy is renowned for his work in computer speech recognition, robotics, human-computer interaction and innovations in higher education .
