Students seek ticket for Pothula Viswam

March 26, 2014 09:40 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 10:52 pm IST - KAKINADA:

At a time when rumours are doing the rounds that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is going to field former Minister Thota Narasimham, who has shifted his loyalties from the Congress to the TDP recently, from Kakinada Parliamentary constituency, students of the Rajiv Gandhi group of educational institutions on Wednesday staged a demonstration in front of the TDP office here seeking the ticket for their group chairman Pothula Venkata Viswam.

Over 1,500 students from the engineering and management colleges being run by the group gathered at the TDP office and staged a silent demonstration. Mr. Viswam, who joined the TDP during the party president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s padayatra in the district last year, has been aspiring for the parliamentary seat ticket. He has even launched the campaign for the poll. However, ever since Mr. Narasimham joined the TDP, a tack has been going on that he had been promised by Mr. Naidu over the MP ticket before joining the party.
