Students of Andhra Pradesh Model School at B. Kothakota mandal headquarters of Madanapalle division on Tuesday staged a protest in front of the school and office of the Mandal Educational Officer (MEO) seeking removal of the school principal alleging that he was beating up students and using abusive language against them.

The students both girls and boys submitted a memorandum to Mandal Educational Officer C. Dhanaraj alleging that Principal Kiran Kumar was not only beating the students even for trivial matters, but also calling them names. During the last several weeks, the mid-day meal at the school was also of poor quality. When a complaint was made to the Principal, he reportedly assaulted some students asking them to be silent.

Speaking to The Hindu , the MEO said District Educational Officer K. Samuel had ordered an inquiry into the episode.
