The three-day SUNKALP-2015 that was organised as part of the National Science Day celebrations by The Sun School here from Friday ended on Sunday with an interactive session between students and K. Durga Prasad, one of the scientists on Indian planetary missions — Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan (Mars Orbiter Mission). Mr. Prasad said that endurance and perseverance toward science and technology incepted into children of school age would develop creativity in them to become successful scientists that the country would be proud of.
He explained through power point the stages of MOM and Chandrayaan-1, climatic conditions, reason for craters and evidences of water on moon.
Answering a volley of questions by students of various colleges and schools, Mr. Prasad said that space research involves medical engineering and life saving equipment and explained about stimulating equipment and other payloads that had been carried during Chandrayaan-1.
Prof. Rao Thatavarthi, director (Engineering Research and Technology), GVP College of Engineering, said “the key to success is: dream high, hope for the best and work hard.”
‘The Science Thrillarium’, an exhibition, with exhibits on magnetic power experiments, robotics, among others, put up by the school students received a pat from the visiting guests.
They gave away prizes to students Kalyan, Saritha, Madhavi, Sailaja and Balchander.
M. Anilkumar and P.G. Rajeswara Rao, director and principal respectively of the school, thanked Mr. Durga Prasad for sharing his experiences with students.
