The police have made tight security arrangements for the ‘Praja Sankalpa Yatra’ the YSR Congress is launching from Idupulapaya in Kadapa district on Monday.

Party president and Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will highlight the ‘failures of the Telugu Desam government’ in the last three years during the seven-month long ‘padayatra’.

Focus on SCS

The Opposition party will stress on grant of Special Category Status (SCS) and explain to the public on the defected MLAs and other leaders, corruption, crime rate, poor implementation of the Loan Waiver Scheme for farmers and Self-Help Groups and other issues. N. Sambasiva Rao, DGP, has said security would be provided to the Leader of the Opposition, who is in ‘Z+ Category’.

M. Ravi Prakash, West Godavari Superintendent of Police, said the tour schedule, route map, night halts, public and roadside meetings and other details were not submitted to the district police so far while his Krishna counterpart Sarvashrestha Tripathi said the police would discuss the tour schedule with the local YSRC leaders.

Rousing reception

The police are collecting the details of the trouble mongers in various political parties and have kept a watch on their movements to ensure smooth conduct of the ‘padayatra’.

Kurnool Special Correspondent adds:

Mr. Jagan offered prayers in the CSI Church at Pulivendula, Sri Anjaneya Swamy temple at Gandi and at the Ameen Peer Dargah in Kadapa on the eve of his Yatra on Sunday. Mr. Jagan was given a rousing welcome by party leaders and activists.

He proceeded by road to Pulivendula. He offered a floral chaddhar and prayers at the Dargah and returned to Pulivendula for a night halt.

He would pay tributes at his father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s ghat at Idupulapaya on Monday morning and address a public meeting at the YSR Estate entrance after hoisting the party flag setting off on his padayatra.
