“State’s development possible only with tag”

May 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - KAKINADA:

Demanding that the Special Category Status (SCS) be accorded to the State without fail, speakers at a roundtable organised here on Friday said that overall development of the State was possible only with the SCS. It was presided over by B. Aseervadam, convener of the Joint Action Committee of employees, workers and teachers.

DCC president Kandula Durgesh and district president of the YSRC K. Kanna Babu lambasted the BJP-led NDA government on the issue and accused the TDP of failing to protect the interests of the State.

Chairman of the Cocanada Chamber of Commerce Dantu Surya Rao said that the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act was not clear on the SCS and that was the reason why the Centre remained non-committal over the issue.

BJP district president Y. Malakondaiah, secretary of the CPI district unit T. Madhu were among those present.
