Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Monday the State government would “rewrite” the history of Andhra Pradesh. It would happen from the transit Secretariat and the transit Assembly itself. Andhra Pradesh would emerge as the number one State by 2050. “Andhra Pradesh will be the care of address for development and happiness,” he said in a reply to the discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address in the Assembly.

“A few persons ridiculed me for talking of plans upto 2050. But I am giving a grand vision of Andhra Pradesh, and we shall achieve it,” he said.“I know neither I nor you are eternal. But I hope the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is in power forever and serve the people.”

Jagan seeks clarifications

Not satisfied with the reply, Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy sought clarifications on various issues including the budgetary allocations to the BCs and minorities even as the treasury benches frequently interrupted him. Noisy scenes followed as the YSRC members rushed to the Speaker’s podium demanding the chair to allow their leader to speak. Mr. Naidu gave clarifications amid the din and the motion of thanks was passed.

Later in the Legislative Council, Mr Naidu said he was working for the welfare and happiness of the poor. His immediate target was to ensure every family earned a minimum ₹10,000 a month.

He said building the greenfield capital and developing it into the most liveable city and completion of the Polavaram Project were the two tasks that were close to his heart.
