Jana Sena founder and Telugu actor Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday said that the State division was a mistake and its rectification is in the hands of youngsters. He said that he was not interested in politics, but was forced to react on people’s issues as a responsible citizen.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan attended as the chief guest at a programme organised by the GMR Varalakshmi Foundation at GMRIT Rajam. His visit was kept confidential till the last hour to prevent gathering of mob in and around the campus. The students were initially told that only GMR Group Chairman Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao would address the gathering. The students were in upbeat mood after seeing Mr. Pawan Kalyan.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pawan said that students were the real strength of the nation and advised them to emulate Mr. Mallikarjuna Rao. “Despite lack of opportunities in Srikakulam district, Mr.Mallikarjuna Rao had started industries some 40 years ago and served his home town Rajam with CSR activities,” he said.

The actor expressed concern over lack of social responsibility for many industries. “Earning is not important, but how much you are giving back to the society has more relevance. In fact, I have decided to serve people in my own way,” he added.

He lauded Narendra Modi government’s flaghip programme Swachh Bharat and urged people to give utmost priority for cleanliness in villages. Earlier, Mr. Mallikarjuna Rao recalled his association with Chiranjeevi’s family.

Police authorities struggled a lot to control the students and others who gathered at the venue.

Several police officials were dissatisfied with the improper treatment given to SP A.S. Khan who was not invited on to the dais.
