Start Pushkaram works on war footing, officials told

Rs. 200 crore more will be allocated for the works ahead of Godavari Pushkaram

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has exhorted the East Godavari district administration and the MLAs to launch works for the Godavari Pushkaram, slated for July 14 next year, on a war footing.

Reviewing the Pushkaram works with officials, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Endowments Minister Paidikondala Manikyala Rao here on Wednesday, he said that there was no fund crunch to undertake the works. The government had already sanctioned Rs.100 crore and another Rs. 25 crore was kept ready for the purpose, he said, adding that Rs. 200 crore more would be allocated for the works proposed to be taken up in the next few months.

Temples to get facelift

Mr. Naidu asked the Endowments Department to draw funds from common funds of the TTD, Annavaram and other temples and renovate all temples along Godavari river in the twin Godavari districts. When Anaparti MLA N. Ramakrishna Reddy said that Bikkavolu Gomukhalingeswara, Subrahmanya Swami temple complex and Vinayaka temples were under archaeology department, the Chief Minister said the issue would be sorted out and the temples would be handed over to Endowments Department to undertake renovation works.

Referring to the bad conditions of ghat roads after MLA Dr. Akula Satyanarayana highted the issue, Mr. Naidu asked Collector and R and B, Panchayat Raj officials to immediately take up road lying works along the river bunds. “There is no fund crunch. I will monitor the works every month,” Mr. Naidu said.
