As the guests made their way on to the stage, fans kept pushing at the barricades giving police a tough time

A burst of fire crackers lit up the evening sky, kicking off celebrations after Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu assumed office at exactly 7.27 p.m. on Sunday.

Long and illuminated electric poles added a festive touch at the venue decked up for most eventful ceremony to have taken place in the new state of Andhra Pradesh.

It was a star studded show, with several Union Ministers, Chief Ministers and film stars adding a touch of glamour to the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held opposite ANU here on Sunday evening.

Former Deputy Prime Minister L.K Advani, Union Minister of Home Rajnath Singh and other political bigwigs who arrived at Gannavaram by special flights were accorded a ceremonial welcome at the venue.

Power Star Pawan Kalyan joined the party later but was accorded a tumultous welcome. As the guests made their way on to the stage, delirious fans kept pushing at the barricades. Police had a tough time in controlling the crowds.
