The Secondary School Certificate (SCC) examinations got off to a peaceful start in various parts of Karimnagar district on Thursday. A total of 65,453 students will be writing the examinations across 284 centres in the district. 3,270 officials have been deployed for the smooth conduct of the examinations.
One student was debarred from taking the examination for allegedly resorting to copying at an examination centre on the first day of the SSC public examinations in the district.
Meanwhile, around 20 students were allegedly compelled to write the examination on the ground at a centre in Shanthinagar due to the shortage of desks. In Kusumanchi mandal, a group of SSC students belonging to Eshwaramadharam and other adjoining villages, reportedly hired a tractor and reached their examination centre with great difficulty in the absence of proper transportation facilities.
Out of the total of 38,865 candidates expected to appear for the exams at 212 centres across the district, 377 were absent on the first day, according to District Educational Officer K. Srinivasachary.
