Suspended IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi, who is also the sixth accused in the illegal mining case against Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC), was back in Chanchalguda prison here on Thursday after being on interim bail on health grounds since October 8 last year.
She surrendered in a special court earlier in the day on Thursday as her interim bail given in two spells ended on Wednesday. She was remanded till April 1 by the court.
Ms. Srilakshmi appeared in the court on a wheelchair, looking frail. She was accompanied by her husband, M. Gopikrishna, an IPS officer.
Judge U. Durga Prasada Rao directed the jail authorities to get Ms. Srilakshmi medically examined at the earliest by a team of doctors either from Osmania or Gandhi Hospital and submit a report.
The court will take a view on her plea for further extension of interim bail on health grounds on March 25.
The court granted Ms. Srilakshmi’s request that she be allowed to use the wheelchair and a walking stick in the jail as she was not in a position to move on her own due to a problem in her lower left limb.
Meanwhile, the court allowed the discharge petitions filed by Gali Janardhan Reddy, B.V. Srinivasa Reddy, V.D. Rajagopal and K. Mehfuz Ali Khan in the same case and adjourned the process of framing of charges against them till completion of investigation into the case in all respects.
The court allowed their petitions on the ground that the investigating agency itself had said that probe into the case was not complete in all aspects.
