Badminton ace Kidambi Srikanth, a native of Guntur, has been appointed as Deputy Collector under the sports quota.

Mr. Srikanth, who is now in Mumbai, has expressed his gratitude to the A.P. government for conceding the request he made in August last. The government on Wednesday issued a GO to this effect.

Soon after Mr. Srikanth won the Indonesian Championship in June 2017, he was felicitated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada who promised a government job to him.

The State Cabinet passed a resolution on November 1 last deciding to appoint Mr. Srikanth as Deputy Collector, a Group I post.
