The issue of bifurcation of the State triggered internal squabbles within Telugu Desam, with party’s Telangana Forum convenor Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Wednesday calling party colleague from Seemandhra, Payyavula Keshav, “an insect who deserves to be removed from the party”.
The name-calling has surprised many in the party, coming as it were a day after TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu made leaders of Telangana and Seemandhra sit together and agree on a common strategy of not responding to the Home Ministry’s letter and boycotting the meeting called by the Group of Ministers on bifurcation.
Mr. Dayakar Rao targeted Mr. Keshav at an open media conference on Wednesday finding fault with him and another senior leader from Seemandhra for deviating from the party line and creating an impression that the party had changed its stand on Telangana.
He mentioned Mr. Naidu’s latest letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in which he recalled the party’s Polit Bureau decision in 2008. Such campaign by party leaders was much like what the Congress and the TRS were indulging in.
