BJP senior leaders Paidi Venugopalam and S. Umamaheswari urged the Centre to allocate adequate funds for the development of residual State of Andhra Pradesh and stressed the need for a special package for the North Andhra region.

In a meeting with Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, M. Venkaiah Naidu, Nirmala Sitharaman and others in New Delhi, they explained the party’s position in the district and grievances of people of the ‘Uttarandhra’ region.

Ms. Umamaheswari hoped that Srikakulam district would get more funds from the Centre. “Srikakulam district has achieved rapid growth with the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and other welfare schemes during the NDA government. We hope the district would be on development path under the new dispensation,” she added.
