Speaker N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that he would verify the resignation by each and every MLA by talking to them individually before taking any decision on their mass resignations.

Mr. Reddy told The Hindu that that he received letters of resignation from one hundred MLAs, including 58 of Congress, 29 of TDP and 13 of Praja Rajyam. They submitted the resignation to him either in person or by fax in the wake of an announcement by the Central Government to initiate the process of forming Telangana State.

Addressing a press conference earlier, the Speaker said he would go by rule book and established conventions and practices while taking a decision. There was no time limit for him to act.

He denied a rumour about his own resignation or that of any of the Ministers as members of the House. He refused to talk politics as he held a Constitutional post.
