Southern Air Command chief visits Suryalanka IAF station

Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Air Command of the Indian Air Force Air Marshal Arun Purushottam Garud on Thursday reviewed the operational activities at the Air Force Station, Suryalanka in Guntur District near here.

Air Marshal Garud accompanied by his wife and president of Air Force Wives’ Welfare Association (Regional) Sulochana Garud, arrived at the Air Force Station on Thursday morning. He was received by Station Commander AF Station Group Captain S.B Todkar and his wife and president of Air Force Wives’ Welfare Association (local) Saroja Todkar.

The Air Marshal inspected a ceremonial guard of honour led by Chief Operations Officer Wing Commander S.K. Menon at the base after arriving by an air force chopper.

The Air Marshal after reviewing the operational activities at the station later reviewed the progress made in developing the infrastructure. He also complimented the station for ensuring the smooth conduct of missile test firing from the base.

The Air Marshal said that all out efforts would be made to improve the working and living environment of air force men and their families. Ms. Sulochana Garud reviewed the welfare activities undertaken at the Air Force Station and interacted with the Sanginis of the station.

The Air Force Station at Suryalanka, located at a distance of 7 k.m. from Bapatla, has a guided weapon firing range and facilities for testing of missiles.
