One Ponnolu Veera Reddy, 28, was arrested in connection with the murder of his mother Seethamma, 55, at Ravindranagar here on April 13 over a property dispute and four other accused in the case.
Veera Reddy developed a grouse against his mother Seethamma and father Ramachandra Reddy for registering a farm land worth Rs. 2 crore to his married sister Sindhula Reddy. He and his wife Rajeswari opposed it and instead suggested that she be assisted by giving Rs. 10 lakh and quarrelled frequently with the elderly couple.
At their behest, Rajeswari’s brother Pushpagiri Sivasankara Reddy, 23, hatched a plot to murder Seethamma, Kadapa DSP C. Rajeswar Reddy told newsmen here. Sivasankara Reddy and his friends Singamreddy Kiran Kumar Reddy, both 22, Nagari Rajendra, 19, of Akkayapalle and Pathan Fairoz Khan alias Balu, 19, and son Veera Reddy went on motorcycles to Seethamma’s house and killed by stabbing her indiscriminately, the DSP said.
On a complaint by Mr. Ramachandra Reddy, the police registered a case against the five and Rajeswari, the DSP said. He lauded Kadapa urban Circle-Inspector Srinivasulu, One Town CI Mahabub Basha, Rural CI Rajagopala Reddy and Taluk sub-inspector Bala Maddileti, for achieving a breakthrough in the murder case and nabbing the accused.
