Collector M.M. Nayak has asked people to generate solar power by setting up roof top solar panels at 50 per cent government subsidy for domestic use and also sell the surplus energy at Rs. 5.48 per unit to EPDCL.
Mr. Nayak inaugurated the first roof top solar energy unit setup by a local Sankar Rao at Babametta on Sunday. On the occasion, he congratulated Mr. Sankar Rao for his initiation and called upon people to avail government’s 50 per cent subsidy. The Collector said all government offices and civic bodies will shortly setup solar energy units to meet their power requirement.
Municipal chairperson Prasadula Ramakrishna said that solar power plant in an extent of five acres at a cost of Rs. 5 crore was being established to meet the energy demand of the municipality. Already work fixing solar panels on Municipal Office complex at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh had begun, he added. NEDCAP district Manager M.V.K. Raju participated.
