‘Smart Water Grid’ to keep track of water levels

November 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - TIRUPATI:

After the success of river linking project Pattiseema, which offers 80-100 TMC water from Godavari to Krishna, Mr. Naidu said that they would also link a third river Penna via Somasila project, which he opined will answer major water-related problems in the state. He futher appealed to the farmers and people to treat water as a precious resource by using only 3-8 metres of ground water, to prevent environmental issues.

Besides this, Mr. Naidu also said that they would create a 'Smart Water Grid', which would host water-related details, online! The data would include amount of rains, ground water levels, status of reservoirs and other water projects, chances to dig borewells and much more.

In the next six months, all the spring channels will be repaired and focus will be on diverting and conserving the excess water into other feeders for its conservation.

Earlier, Mr. Naidu performed 'Ganga Puja' and lifted a spillway gate of Kalyani Dam. He was also appraised of various aspects of the water project by the municipal authorities. Chittoor MP N. Sivaprasad, Minister for Environment and Forests Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy, Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, MLC G. Srinivasulu, District Collector Siddharth Jain and other officials took part.

Meanwhile, the maiden tonsure ceremony of Mr. Naidu and Actor-Politician Nandamuri Balakrishna's grandson Devansh was held with pomp and splendour, at their native village Naravaripalle on Friday morning.

Festive atmosphere prevailed as both the families offered prayers to the village deity Nagalamma followed by ceremony, amid vedic chants and beats of traditional music instruments.
