Director-General of Police J.V. Ramudu has said that developmental activities taking place in the extremist-prone scheduled mandals in the Agency region are an indication of the declining dominance of Maoists along the Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB).
The DGP was talking to the media on Tuesday after participating in a slew of activities, including inauguration of a reception counter at the rural police station and DSP quarters, and tree plantation at the Police Training College. Mr. Ramudu said that the situation along the AOB was under control.
With the State and Central governments making relentless efforts to improve road connectivity and other basic infrastructure for the police in the Agency region, the situation would improve further, he felt. Mr. Ramudu said that a notification for recruitment of police constables would be issued soon.
Reiterating that Vizianagaram was a peaceful district, the DGP said that Law and Order was under control.
Later, he also held a meeting with top police officers. Among those who accompanied the DGP were Viswajeet, IG, and Ch. Srikanth, DIG (Visakhapatnam Range).
