The Singapore delegation which met State Advisory Committee for New Capital here on Tuesday decided to work on the capital city design in three-phases.
The Singapore government delegation which signed MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government on Monday commenced its work from Tuesday and held a meeting with the Advisory committee members.
The State team explained the developments so far for the construction of capital city and the prevailing situation in the area.
The meeting resolved to visit the capital area in the first six weeks and meet different sections of people and interact with them. They would meet representatives of police, revenue, trade and commerce, irrigation, and tourism departments. As part of this plan, the visiting delegation would hold a meeting with officials of five key departments on Thursday.
In the next 10 weeks, the Singapore team would take up a study and formulate plans for the capital, industry and basic infrastructure and deliberate with experts in those fields. The team then would prepare designs for the capital city and the capital region.
Disclosing this to media persons, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana said every day review meetings would be held. A working committee would be constituted with three officials from Singapore and Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Narayana said the visiting team was explained about topography, power, water, land and ports across the State and about the resources available in Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali and Mangalagiri region. The meeting also discussed details of rainfall, agriculture in the 29 villages where 30,000 acres of land was identified for the first phase of capital.
Aerial visitThe Singapore team would do an aerial survey of the capital city area over the next two or three days. Though some members of the visiting delegation would return, others would stay put in the State, Mr.Narayana added.
