Shun Valentine’s Day: Bajrang Dal

February 10, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:11 am IST - HYDERABAD:

As is the case every year, the Bajrang Dal has once again appealed to the youth to boycott Valentine’s Day celebrations on February 14.

The members of the organisation said that they will oppose all kinds of events and activities held in the city on that day, since it was increasingly turning out to be a commercial affair. The members also said that neither did St. Valentine belong to India nor was he an inspirational character that people should remember and celebrate him.

Controversial character

“We are not against love or lovers, but our question is why should we celebrate only February 14? St. Valentine was a controversial character so what is the significance of Valentines Day?” questioned Y. Bhanu Prakash, State convenor, Bajrang Dal on Tuesday.
