Short circuit led to fire in cashew factory

A major fire broke out in a cashew factory in Palasa of Srikakulam district on Saturday early hours, causing loss of lakhs worth of stock and machinery, according to locals. Due to short circuit, the fire accident took place in Yuvashankar Traders.

As many as 2,000 packets of cashew nuts were burnt in the incident. Fire tenders which came at 3 a.m. continued to douse flames till 7 a.m., indicating the severity of the incident. Many traders expressed feared that the fire might lead damage of their factories too. However, the fire was controlled with the constant efforts of the police and fire wings.
