Heavy rains continued unabatedly in Telangana and Coastal Andhra regions, causing floods and cutting off more villages.

Nizamabad district was the worst hit. A significant inflow of 9,900 cusecs began to reach Sriramsagar project, bringing cheer to farmers of the district.

Following heavy releases made from the Kadem project, another project across the river lying downstream the SRSP — Yellampalli -- was receiving 14,500 cusecs.

Heavy rain lashed Adilabad district for the third consecutive day with Nirmal recording 8 cm.

In Khammam district, the Taliperu rivulet rose again, forcing the authorities to open the shutters of the Taliperu project.

Streams in spate

Several streams were in spate in Warangal and Karimnagar districts too. The situation was similar in Coastal Andhra districts like East Godavari, West Godavari and Krishna. Nuzvid recorded 7 cm of rain.

As the impact of the low pressure system was likely to peter out, the heavy rainfall warning issued by India Meteorological Department has now been confined to north Telangana districts of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Khammam and Warangal.
