Five persons were killed in two different accidents in Kadapa district on Monday.

Mahankali Suresh Kumar, 25, and M. Ramachandra Achari, 50, belonging to Pullampet, were killed instantly when a luggage van collided with a lorry near an electrical sub-station in Railway Kodur on Monday.

They were returning from Tirupati after unloading luggage there. Railway Kodur Sub-Inspector Ramachandra registered a case and sent the bodies to the government hospital at Rajampet for post-mortem.

In another accident, three persons Sundaram, 48, Subramanyam, 45, and Ramanjaneyulu, 32, belonging to Yerradoddipalle Harijanawada in Sambepalle mandal were killed when their motorcycle rammed into a stationary tractor trolley near Guttapalle in Sambepalle mandal in the early hours. The trio was returning on a motorcycle after attending the funeral rites of a relative at Neelakantharaopet in Ramapuram mandal when the accident took place.

They could not sight the parked tractor trolley due to the bright lights of a lorry coming from the opposite direction, police said. Sambepalle police registered a case.

Two killed in Nellore

Two persons were killed and another seriously injured when the car in which they were travelling ploughed into a lorry at the Gomati crossroads in Nayudupeta in Nellore district on Sunday night.

The police said that the deceased were identified as B. Chandraiah, 45, and Kalluri Ravi, 41, both belonging to Puduru village in Nayudupeta mandal. An advocate named Ganga Prasad sustained injuries.

The mishap took place when the victims were travelling from Srikalahasti to reach their native places in Nayudupeta area.
