Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the civic reception hosted for the former at the Secretariat in Velagapudi on Saturday.

Advising Chief Ministers N. Chandrababu Naidu and K. Chandrasekhar Rao to work together for the development of A.P. and Telangana, Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu said the Telugu-speaking States would have been far more developed had bifurcation happened during the Jai Andhra movement in 1972.

“Today, it is my request to them to meet and talk frequently to solve the problems in an atmosphere of give-and-take so that they steal the march on others,” he said.

Mr. Naidu suggested to Mr. Chandrababu Naidu to make Telugu administrative language to promote its learning and protection.

Expressing gratitude for being given the civic reception by the Andhra Pradesh government on becoming Vice-President at the Secretariat here on Saturday, Mr. Naidu said quarrelling over differences would take the States nowhere. Both sides should remember that problems would be as common as between brothers and a collective effort was needed to solve them amicably.

He said it was true that injustice was meted out to A.P. and vowed to do whatever was possible for its development, for which there was tremendous potential as it had abundant natural resources and an intelligent human resource.

Mr. Venkaiah Naidu called upon the elected representatives from the village panchayat up to Parliament to uphold the dignity of the respective legislative body and try to find solutions to problems through meaningful debates.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan said Mr. Venkaiah Naidu rose to the stature of Vice-President through sheer hard work and by not compromising on ethics through his four decade-long political career.

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said Mr. Venkaiah Naidu’s fight for the rights of A.P. during the debate on bifurcation in the Rajya Sabha and the helping hand he extended thereafter as Union Minister would not be forgotten.

He lauded the disciplined conduct of Mr. Venkaiah Naidu from the days of his entry into politics and his steadfast commitment to his political ideology.

Earlier, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu laid the foundation for the construction of 2.25 lakh houses in urban areas under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by unveiling a plaque.
