District Collector and Special Officer S. Suresh Kumar on Saturday motivated the sanitary workers by taking part in the Clean City Championship campaign.
Mr. Kumar arrived in One Town and soon put on the cap, gloves and face mask and pushed the cart carrying bins for some distance. He also evinced a keen interest in the segregation of solid waste into dry and wet waste.
About 13 pushcarts have been deployed to cover houses in election wards 3 and 4.
Patting the personnel of the GMC for taking up a comprehensive sanitation campaign, the Collector asked the residents to extend their cooperation by separating the waste at their homes itself.
Mr. Kumar said that campaign would end on September 10 but the programme would continue in the days to come.
Municipal Commissioner K. Venkateswarlu, Additional Commissioner P. Srinivasulu, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Latif, Municipal Health Officers Sridhar and L. Naik were present.
