Arguments commenced in the much awaited case pertaining to division of Hyderabad High Court into two separate High Courts for the States of Telangana and AP on Tuesday afternoon.
Division Bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P. V. Sanjay Kumar heard at length the arguments advanced by K. Ramakrishna Reddy, Advocate General of Telangana. It may be recalled that while dealing with a case filed by T. Dhangopal Rao, the Bench asked the two State governments and union of India to file counter affidavits. All the three governments filed counter affidavits on Tuesday. The Telangana Advocate General said that every State is entitled to have its own High Court and recalled the agitation by advocates.
He read out various provisions of the AP State Reorganisation Act and Constitution of India. He said that the Telangana State government is ready to provide all the infrastructure for smooth functioning of separate AP High Court at Hyderabad.
The AP High Court may choose to continue in the present building or if it wants to have new premises all the help will be extended.
He made it clear that the separate Telangana High Court can function at a separate building or in the present premises along with a separate High Court of AP.
