People obsessed with taking selfies have a brand new attraction to check out. The Krishna District Tourism Promotion Council has identified a ‘selfie point’ at the picturesque Punnami Ghat on the banks of River Krishna; a special spot designated for selfies that offers a spectacular blue and green background.

District Collector B. Lakshmikantham on Tuesday inaugurated a 130-ft space at the Berm Park, identified to be developed as selfie point. Christened as Neeli Haritha Nagari (Blue and Green zone), the place has as its background lush green trees and the blue water of the river. “Thousands of people visit Punnami Ghat for its scenic beauty.

Special zone

This special zone is being created to help them capture fond memories of this place at the selfie point,” he said. The concept of developing selfie points is gaining popularity across the country.

Designated places

Mumbai authorities have developed a selfie point with the 128-year-old building of the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus or CST as its background while Madhya Pradesh has this designated place for taking selfies near the statue of Raja Bhoj site.

The Indian Railways has come up with a concept to designate selfie points at various railway stations.
