The segregation of court cases to which the government of Andhra Pradesh is a party in the Supreme Court and High Court is expected to be completed in about 10 days, according to official sources.
The sources said the cases were being identified district-wise and the offices of the Advocate-General and Public Prosecutor, among others, were involved in the process. The help of the Centre for Good Governance was being taken in the segregation of the cases.
Once the new Telangana State and the successor State of Andhra Pradesh come into existence on June 2, cases relating to the respective States would be automatically dealt by the governments concerned.
Meanwhile, the State government is yet to receive guidelines with regard to distribution of subordinate judicial officers and the administrative officers.
As per the A.P. Reorganisation Act, the High Court of judicature at Hyderabad shall be the common High Court for the State of Telangana and the State of Andhra Pradesh till a separate High Court for A.P. State was constituted under Article 214 of the Constitution.
The principal seat of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh shall be at such place as the President may, by notified order, appoint.
The sources said that since the High Court of judicature at Hyderabad shall be the common High Court, the Central government has the power to decide on the seat and place of the High Court of the successor Andhra Pradesh State in consultation with the Chief Justice of India and the High Court.
