Seemandhra Students Federation was formed in Kadapa to take up the cause of students of the 13 districts in the State and focus on their woes, its founder and State president Pattupogula Pavan Kumar said on Monday.

Calling upon students to enrol themselves in SSF , Mr. Pavan Kumar told a press conference in YSR Memorial Press Club here that district committees would be constituted in 13 districts soon. The federation would also strive to ensure that the Government’s welfare schemes reached the deserving students and exert pressure for proper implementation of the fee reimbursement schemes, disbursal of scholarships and free distribution of text books to students of first standard to the 12th standard.

SSF will wage movements demanding an enactment to regulate fees in private and corporate educational institutions, counter their onslaught, provision of basic amenities in social welfare hostels, counter moves to close down government schools on the pretext of poor attendance of students and strengthen educational institutions getting government funds.

Quota in private institutions

Mr. Pavan Kumar said the federation would strive to ensure full-fledged implementation of the Right To Education Act and implementation of reservations in all the private and corporate educational institutions. The SSF President demanded a legislation that only women teachers and hostel welfare officers should be posted in educational institutions and hostels exclusively for women and girls. It would also strive for education and employment for all, cent per cent literacy, eradication of unemployment and involving youth in nation-building activities.

Attacks on women

Bycreating awareness among youth on women’s problems, sexual abuse and attacks , Mr. Pavan Kumar said, youth would be developed as a force to change the course of the society for a better living. SSF members Avinash Reddy, Gurukarna, Subba Rao, Suresh, Tarun and Ravisankar participated.
