All the Union Ministers and MPs of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema will take a decision in two or three days on the question of submitting their resignations, getting them accepted and joining forces with employees and people agitating for the united State.
These leaders who had been facing the brunt of the ongoing Samaikhyandhra agitation in the Seemandhra region gave this commitment to the APNGOs, Secretariat Seemandhra Employees, Electricity and other service Associations’ leaders at a three-hour long meeting with them in New Delhi on Thursday.
Significantly, they reportedly expressed their willingness to participate in the ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ meeting being organised by APNGOs here on September 7 and come out openly against the Congress’ decision to bifurcate the State if their resignations are accepted by then. Alternatively, some of them will attend the meeting to express their solidarity to the month-long movement that is going strong in Seemandhra, according to APNGOs Association President P. Ashok Babu and Secretariat Seemandhra Employees leaders. The representatives of Seemandhra employees associations had met the Prime Minister, leaders of all national parties in the last two days.
“We will not hesitate to submit our resignations and take the movement forward along with employees. Some of us have already resigned. Do understand we have been making our own efforts to keep the State united and representing people’s concerns. We do not want your struggle to go in vain,” the leaders reportedly told the employees’ representatives. The Union Ministers and MPs would meet again separately on Friday and evolve a plan of action and strategy. Caught in a bind unable to face public fury and exploring strategies to stall the bifurcation, the Seemandhra MPs and Ministers were coming to the conclusion that it was time to join the movement to protect the interests of people in their region, employees’ leaders told The Hindu.
It was also resolved in the meeting that hereafter the people’s representatives would go forward only with a common voice for United AP after employees confronted the MPs and Ministers about different demands like union territory status to Hyderabad, Rayala Telangana. At this stage Mr. Chiranjeevi clarified that he was committed to united State. He had mooted Union Territory status to Hyderabad as a last resort if division became inevitable. Union Ministers Pallam Raju, Panabaka Lakshmi, JD Seelam, Kavuri Sambasivarao, Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy, Chiranjeevi, Killi Kruparani, and MPs Ananta Venkatrami Reddy, Lagadapati Rajagopal, G. V. Harsha Kumar, K. V. P.Ramachandra Rao and V. Aruna Kumar attended the meeting among others.
