Barring skirmishes in a few places between supporters of YSRCP and TDP, polling has been largely peaceful and brisk, said chief electoral officer (CEO) Bhanwar Lal here on Wednesday.
He said that 33 per cent polling was recorded till 11 am in 13 districts of Seemandhra. Kurnool registered the highest polling percentage at 41 per cent while the lowest was in East Godavari and Visakhapatnam at 28 per cent.
Mr Bhanwar Lal said that given the brisk pace of polling, the overall polling may touch anywhere between 85 to 90 per cent.
Referring to incidents of attacks on camera men and TV channel broadcast vans at Nidavalur, in Ramachandrapuram mandal of Chandragiri constituency in Chittoor district, and an attack on an ASI by anti- social elements in Kadapa district, the CEO said cases would be booked and action taken against the culprits.
He said a police team headed by one DSP with four sub inspectors and 40 constables rushed to Nidavalur and brought the situation under control. The polling was however not disrupted.
Police fired into the air at Rampicharla in Guntur district to disperse supporters of clashing rival groups and brought the situation under control, the CEO said.
