The Seemandhra Congress MPs are firm on their resolve to disrupt the proceedings of Parliament till the Central Government desists from its moves to unilaterally push through the bifurcation Bill.
Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao asserted that the MPs resolved to intensify their protest against the bifurcation of the State till the party leadership reconsidered its decision.
The remarks assume significance in the wake of Seemandhra Ministers staging, a first of its kind protest, in the Well of the House on Wednesday.
Union Minister K. Chiranjeevi and K.S. Rao told reporters later that they were left with no other option as the party leadership was going ahead with its decision to ensure passage of the Bill without addressing the concerns of the Seemandhra people. Minister D. Purandeswari is reportedly contemplating to quit from her post as well as the party immediately after the Bill was formally tabled in the Parliament.
Ms. Purandeswari said she had already submitted her resignation from the Ministry and was not attending official duties ever since the Cabinet gave its green signal to bifurcation of the State.
“I am compelled to take drastic decisions as the party is going ahead with the Bill without giving a patient ear to Seemandhra MPs,” she said asserting that the MPs were trying to represent the views of their constituents who were apprehensive about their future prospects after the division of the State.
