Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MLAs had a free run on the Assembly premises on Friday.
In an unprecedented action, the TRS MLAs burnt the effigy of the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy in front of the CLP office after taking out a mock funeral procession. Two TRS MLAs created tentsion – Kaveti Sammaiah and Vinay Bhaskar – climbed on the TRS Legislature Party office building threatening to jump.
Security personnel watched helplessly as TRS legislators resorted to flash protests led by Eatala Rajender. All of them sported black T shirts. Even as some MLAs were burning an effigy, two MLAs climbed the TRSLP building sending the police into tizzy. Any amount of pleas to the MLAs to come down did not yield result and it took one hour for the marshals to put an end to the drama.
After the House was adjourned, these MLAs made a bid to obstruct the convoy of the Speaker Nadendla Manohar from leaving the Assembly. The police sensing trouble diverted the convoy from the rear gate of Assembly.
Earlier, the Chief Minister travelled in a white bullet proof Ambassador car from Camp office to Legislative Council at 6.30 am. The Speaker too travelled in a private vehicle to the Assembly to avoid trouble.
The TRS leadership claimed moral victory today’s developments. The Chief Minister’s office responded immediately by denying that Mr. Kiran Reddy had used an Ambassador car. They maintained that it was mock drill by the police department to test the alertness of the police and pointed out that Mr. Reddy traveled in his regular SUV.
