Second phase auction of red sanders next month

The second of phase of global e-tender-cum-e-auction for sale of 3,500 metric tonnes of red sanders wood in log form will be conducted next month.

AP Government Order approving the proposal to conduct the sale by inviting global tenders was issued here on Wednesday. While no dates were mentioned in the GO, official sources said that a minimum of 30 to 45 days time would have to be provided after the announcement to conduct the global sale. The starting price has been fixed at Rs.12 lakh per MT of ‘Ç’ grade, Rs. 20 lakh per MT for ‘B’ grade and Rs.30 lakh per MT for ‘A’ grade as recommended by the tender committee constituted by the government. The government has also accepted the recommendation of the panel to engage the services of M/s MSTC Ltd for conducting the sale and to appoint the A.P. Forest Development Corporation Ltd as the export agency to realise the sale proceeds. Following permission by the Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, to export 8584.1363 MTs of red sanders in log form out of the confiscated/ seized stocks available with the State government, a quantity of 2,694 MTs was sold through global e-auction in the week-long first phase conducted in November last.
