The level of awareness among children, their concern for the planet and the multifarious solutions they offer to tackle the numerous ills plaguing society are surely astonishing, going by the expertise they proved at the science exhibition organised by Geetanjali High School here on Saturday.

Students displayed eye-catching exhibits on topics ranging from wind power to power generation from salt water (the possibilities of tapping sea water). They also explained to visitors tougher concepts like electroplating, sublimation as well as tips on checking adulteration of essential commodities. One exhibit even showed how plants could be grown in disposable bottles to tackle the twin problems of growing plastic menace and shrinking greenery. Another student demonstrated as to how hydraulic power worked in elevators and earth movers with the help of syringes.

The exhibits by primary-level students were adorable and thought-provoking. Principal G. Bhaskar Rao said the children had toiled for hours together to prepare the exhibits.

While replicas of the Howrah Bridge and the Eiffel Tower bore testimony to their talent, their models on the coexistence of different places of worship bared their stand on tolerance.

Similarly, children expressed their concern for fellow human beings by presenting models on shrinking space. There were also exhibits on the threat faced by wildlife owing to encroachment into their habitations by humans.
