A two-day science exhibition was inaugurated at the Camford English High School here on Friday to celebrate the World Science Day.

About 500 students from the private and the government schools took part in the event, exhibiting as many as 170 exhibits.

Parents and faculty from several schools visited the exhibition.

Speakers at the inaugural session recalled the contribution of Sir C.V. Raman and several great scientists of the country.

School principal Padmini Vasan said that in addition to training the students to participate in the district, State and national-level science events, the students would reap rich benefits when they were prompted to make experiments with the scientific knowledge in their textbooks. "We encourage students by holding science exhibitions at school-level, which will pave the way for their participation at higher-levels,” she said. Students from 3rd class to 9th class participated in the science exhibition.

The winners would be given away prizes on Wednesday.
