Sarpanch’s gunman injured as weapon misfires

Subramanyam, gunman of Peddabodanam sarpanch and TDP leader Maheswar Reddy, sustained a bullet injury in his left leg in a misfire when a revolver fell down in Peddabodanam in Bandi Atmakur mandal in Kurnool district on Thursday.

The sarpanch, who is accused in three murder cases and has factional rivalry, was provided security by the government. The gunman Subramanyam was also carrying the licensed revolver of the sarpanch, along with his rifle. The loaded revolver fell from the gunman’s hand and a bullet pierced his leg in the misfire, according to police.

He was rushed to the Government hospital at Nandyal. Bandi Atmakur police registered a case and are investigating into the incident.
