‘Telangana with 10 districts and Hyderabad as capital acceptable’
BC Welfare Minister Basavaraju Saraiah has said that they will oppose the proposal to create the Rayala-Telangana State and accept only a separate Telangana with 10 districts and Hyderabad as it capital.
Describing the Rayala-Telangana proposal as a new conspiracy hatched to delay the formation of Telangana State, the Minister said that they would urge the party High Command to stick to the decision taken by the Congress Working Committee on the separate statehood issue.
Asserting that the separate Telangana State would be a reality by January, he said that the Congress leadership had kept its promise by taking a decision in favour of the creation of Telangana State.
The Minister further accused a section of media of reporting the bifurcation issue ‘in haste’ by floating different versions, saying that it is creating confusion among the people.
What has been transpired at the meetings of Group of Ministers (GoM) and that of party high command is absolutely confidential, he said.
“The media should not go overboard on the issue and only rely on the versions given by the authorised leaders,” he said.
Requesting the people of Telangana not to get agitated over the news on separate Telangana emerging from different sources, Mr. Saraiah said that the bill for the formation of the new state would be introduced in the Assembly and then everything would be known.
“The bill has to be passed by the Parliament first and only then one would know what actually the decision of the Centre was. We are confident that the bill will take care of interests of the people of Telangana and Seemandhra as well. Now, people should have a little patience,” he said.
