Samaikyandhra protagonists on Tuesday stopped the convoy of Union Minister of State for Petroleum Panabaka Lakshmi while she was on her way to attend her mother’s death anniversary in Gudivada.
The protestors led by Krishna district Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samithi joint convenor M. Hanumanthu Rao stopped the Minister’s convoy at Pedakaluva junction on her way to Gudivada via Pamarru and demanded her resignation.
Representation submitted
Other Samaikyandhra JAC leaders Fareed Basha and Rajendra Prasad and Krishna-Godavari District’s Region Transport Department Employees’ JAC joint convener D. Srinivas submitted a representation to Ms. Lakshmi and sought her support by joining the movement.
“I will try to communicate the present status of the protests in every possible way to the UPA leaders and support the movement,” Ms. Lakshmi told the protestors after receiving their representation.
Earlier, the police suggested to the Minister to get down from the Secunderabad-Machilipatnam train, in which she was travelling on Tuesday, and take road to reach her destination – Rajendranagar in Gudivada town.
The protesters, who waited at Gudivada railway station expecting her arrival, learnt that she had changed her route and thus her convoy was stopped on the road at Peddakaluva junction.
