Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, Inspector General of Police, Andhra Region, said that police have their own strategies to tackle extremist activities on the boarders, particularly AOB and ‘Sadbhavana Yatras’ which are going on in Visakhapatnam interior Agency area, are part of it.
After conducting review meeting with police officials here on Sunday, the IG spoke to the media persons informally.
He said that police knew that there was some extremist activity going on in East Godavari, Visakhapatnam and Khammam Agency areas, and they were already on the job to tackle the problem, but did not want to tell the public about their strategies. “We are extra cautious. We have our own strategies on anti-extremism, which I did not want to share publicly,” the IG pointed out.
Mr. Tirumal Rao, who is visiting all the districts in his region, one after the other, after taking over as IG recently, said that there was a wider scope for Rajahmundry Urban district to elevate as Commissionerate like Cyberabad and Visakhapatnam in future.
Replying to a question, he said that his priority would be crime control and accountability of police officials. He said that the police have already prepared plans to tackle law and order situation regarding the coming Panchayat elections and identified sensitive police stations.
He gave importance to detection and recovery in crime, and said Rajahmundry Urban district has to improve in these areas. He hoped that Urban district will get proper police office building and other infrastructure very soon.
