Former Indian cricket captain and Rajya Sabha member Sachin Tendulkar has adopted Puttamraju Kandrika village located in Gudur mandal here for developing it as a smart village with nearly Rs. 4 crore from his MPLADS funds.

Tendulkar already spoke to District Collector N. Srikanth and Joint Collector G. Rekharani, who had sent proposals for developing various amenities and social infrastructure in the village.

The cricket star had reportedly approved these proposals and gave his consent for the same.

In this backdrop, the district officials are trying to arrange for the visit of Mr. Tendulkar to the village and interact with its residents on November 16, the day he took retirement from cricket after an eventful career.

Improved facilities

Once the project works start, facilities will be significantly improved with regard to roads, lanes, electricity, drinking water supply, community halls, school amenities and so on.

It is also proposed to provide Wi-Fi connectivity to the residents.
